UK PDRA01
UK PDRA01 operational authorisation explained
PDRA01 is a UK CAA operational-authorisation route with defined conditions. It must not be confused with EASA PDRA-S01, PDRA-S02 or PDRA-G01.
Check applicability before drafting
Compare the real operation, aircraft, environment, distances, people at risk and remote-pilot requirements with the current UK CAA PDRA01 conditions.
Build evidence around the conditions
Link every applicable condition to the operations manual, competency evidence, aircraft records, procedures and controlled forms used by the operator.
Manage deviations correctly
Do not modify PDRA01 assumptions to fit the operation. A deviation requires reassessment and may require another UK CAA authorisation route.
Frequently asked questions
Is UK PDRA01 the same as EASA PDRA-S01?
No. They are different regulatory routes. Use the current UK CAA PDRA01 material for a UK application.
Does PDRA01 remove the need for an operational authorisation?
No. PDRA01 is a basis for a UK CAA operational authorisation, not permission by itself.
