PDRA-S02 and PDRA-G01 Explained
PDRA names may look similar, but their scope can differ significantly. Never choose based solely on VLOS or BVLOS. Check the full combination of ground risk, airspace, altitude, operational method, UAS, and containment.
Use the Current PDRA as Source
Always use the latest AMC/GM publication and verify edition and date. Summarize the conditions in your ConOps, but keep the original criteria as the standard for the compliance check.
Compare on Operational Dimensions
Compare VLOS/BVLOS, population density, controlled ground area, airspace risk, maximum altitude, technical limitations, and required crew. One non-matching dimension can render the entire PDRA unsuitable.
Translate Criteria into Practical Procedures
An evidence reference must lead to an executable procedure: who monitors the airspace, how is containment maintained, when does abandonment occur, and which logbook is filled in?
Irish Practical Applicability
In addition to the EASA route, always verify current national conditions. Especially BVLOS and certain airspace combinations in the Ireland are not automatically feasible because the European risk route only appears suitable.

Can software automatically select the correct PDRA?
Software can structure the comparison, but the operator must confirm that all current conditions and the actual operation correspond.
Is partial use of a PDRA allowed?
A PDRA is intended for operations fully within the conditions. For deviations, the appropriate authorization route must be reassessed.
